Welcome to my website, and I've some excellent news for mystery readers. All three
Aurelia Marcella books are now out in trade paperback, (still beautifully produced, but cheaper!) and - more glad tidings for readers in Britain - they'll very soon be available to order from bookshops in the UK. It hasn't been easy to buy Aurelia's adventures in most British High Streets lately. Soon it will be simplicity itself. Watch this space for more details. And the second and third in the series will soon be joining the first one, already listed here on my website, so anyone wanting a signed paperback can order direct from me.
My plans for the summer include a bit of travelling: I'll be one of the authors at Bodies in the Bookshop on July 21st at Heffers, Cambridge. Drop in any time after 6.30 and say hello to us all, and enjoy a glass of wine and some good talk about mysteries. I'll also be at the Harrogate Crimewriting Festival which starts on July 23rd; I may not manage the whole festival this year because of other commitments (such as finishing a book!) But with its exciting mixture of authors, and the chance to catch up with mystery-loving friends, it's a must. Check out my diary for more about my future

The latest published Aurelia Marcella mystery, BURIED TOO DEEP, is a sequel to
GET OUT OR DIE and A BITTER CHILL, and like them, it tells of life (and death) in first-century Roman Britain,
the turbulent province of Britannia, on the very edge of the Roman Empire. You don't have to have read either of the earlier books to enjoy the newest story, though of
course I rather hope you have, or you will!
This time innkeeper Aurelia has to visit the wold country which lies between her mansio on the road to York, and the North Sea coast to the east. She is
trying to discover the cause of vicious feuding between Roman settlers and native farmers which is endangering her sister's family.
She and her sister are Romans, but have always tried to live in peace with their neighbours, and are anxious not to take sides in the
quarrel. They must also help their brother salvage a valuable government cargo which has been shipwrecked, and this brings them into conflict with outlawed sea-raiders too. Then
their family face shocking revelations of past secrets which throw sinister shadows into the present.
